Had cause to pop into Wellingborough yesterday. I knew the town was in decline, but I was frankly shocked. Half the arndale centre boarded up, many of the rest '99p' stores and such. All the interesting shops on the road the Hind is on have now become estate agents or charity shops. The biggest shop in the town appears to be 'Bargain Booze' and the place can no longer financially support its own branch of 'Cash Converters'.

Is Wellingborough the new Corby?

Interesting, I work in Boghorror, I stay away from the town.
But Mrs Jem and I go into Corby own center,
The new bit is nice but parking still fairly pony.

Holy Thread resurrection!

Interesting to read it eleven months on though. Who would have thought that the retail model pioneered by Wellingborough early in 2008 would be adopted with such enthusiasm by other councils the length and breadth of th country?

Well done, plucky Wellingborough, You've shown the way ahead again!
