Is it just me?

Recently had a look at the latest two fuel receipts I have received from Tesco and found something strange, compared to a receipt from August this year:

As any receipt, it reads quite simply [Number of liters fuel] @ [Price per litre] and then the [amount to be paid].
For example: 21.29 litre @ 93.9 P/L = £20.00

On the recent receipts, however, it reads:
1) 50.80 litre @ 106.9 P/L = £65.00
2) 50.24 litre @ 107.9 P/L = £65.00

To my calculations, however
1) would be £54.31 - or price per litre = 127.95p
2) would be £54.21 - or price per litre = 129.38p

Are they now advertising the price excluding VAT on the pumps?

If you are sure that those are the figure (bring 'em round tonight and we'll have a look smile ) then you should call trading standards right away!

The petrol station must advertise the price outside.

Definately worth posting that on General Gassing.

False alarm...

The first vertical line on the dot matrix was faulty, and by consequence did not print - and as a result made the 6x.xx litre look like 5x.xx litre...

I've had another weird related experience:

I've notice that my fuel tank is getting bigger...

It used to hold £40-worth of fuel, but now holds £50-worth!!!

I suffered the opposite in Switzerland. Filled the tank at a filling station beside Lac Leman, drove to the Mont Blanc tunnel and noticed that fuel was spilling from the tank overflow. Took off the filler cap and the fuel was still right up to the brim!
