was out tonight and got a call from Di to say that someone had just screeched round the round about by our house and gone straight into the back of our car, pushing it about 20 foot up the road (our hand brake is crap so that might have helped)
but suprise suprise, they didn't stop furious don't know the exact extent of the damage, but the boot won't shut now so I guess its bent something frown

Arses!

Sorry to hear that. If they've done that sort of damage then their car must be damaged. Have you notified the police?

Crime obviously stops at night time these days then rolleyes

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Matt/Di, now its light have you had the opportunity to survey the damage any further?

Am I right in thinking this is the Seat and not the Lotus?

That's bad news. You should try and push for a response, failing to stop / failing to report is serious. A criminal conviction will do wonders for helping to sort out your insurance claim. Any CCTV nearby that the vehicle may have been in scope (public or private), if so a quick trip to ask may prove dividends, if you can identify something to help the police (and stop tapes being erased) it may be useful.

Good luck with it. I had someone run into a car outside my mothers house and fail to stop. I traced him quickly, after an initial denial I pointed out some damage to his car and that paint could be forensically matched (and that I would get satisfaction). Got the money back quickly.

Don't be tempted to break the law though!

Sorry to hear this Matt

Try and get the info to track them but don't invest too much of your emotions and time with this as you may not get anywhere (I hope I'm wrong about this)

I don't think there are any CCTV cameras round there but even if there are they may be of no use to you for serveral reasons (I used to work for a CCTV company so know more about this than most)

If the car is not too seriously damged (less than say £1,200) then you'd be better off not reporting the accident to your insurance - not that I'm suggesting this as it would be illegal rolleyes

My wife ignored my advice (as wives do) and I just smirk every year when her insurance premium comes thro'

The same thing happened to my mates car on saturday in the sixfields Mega bowl car park

Witness said a young asian lad had been sitting drinking in his blue corsa when some how me managed to reverse into my mates car when pulling out, sped off and never seen

so hes got teh process of claiming on his insurance even tho its not his fault.
But then again i cant imagine the other driver has insurace, TAX or MOT, or even a license at that!

Some people jsut need to grow up and be responsible for their actions, whankers

We called the police twice and then went down the station, they asked Matt to fill out a form, can't get a crime number til monday.
No CCTV as its just residentail, however two of the neighbours saw the car speed off, apparently it was a small dark car. There was plastic on the road, not from our car, so I suspect they had damage (what a shame!) Silly thing was, they went down a dead end road, a passing couple took a walk down thee and couldn't see anything, we took 2 drives down there, couldnt see any damaged cars and there is no garages, so I have no idea where they went.

Hi guys, sorry to hear your news, some drivers are such wcensoreds.

Not going in total defense of the Police, they are only following rules about attending incidents.
A non-stop RTC (Road Traffic Collision) does not get attendance unless there are any injuries to the party involved, under the Road Traffic Act, the party involved has to attend a local police station to report the matter in person, it cannot be done over the phone, however most forces will put out observations fot the offending vehicle if it's been reported to them at the time (we do in Thames Valley)

Most Police Station front desks are now only manned at certian times. All area's have 24 hour coverage. The closing of the front desk gets more officers out on the street, or so we are told! but officers are certainly around, on-duty, all the time.

I'll get off my soap-box now, Hope you manage to get it sorted out smoothly.

Paul.

Paul, don't get me wrong, I wasn't slating the police- far from it, the crime committed was hardly worth their effort, far more important things going on, I heard someone got sexually assaulted on Tuesday night close to us, I know what I would be investigating!
