Looking to get a few minor cosmetic stone chips and scratches repaired. It needs to be a quality job rather than cheap and cheerful. Can anyone recommend the local ChipsAway franchise or other similar SMART repairer? I've read that they vary a lot in their quality.

Cheers,
UKTM

I used the Chipsaway chap from Harborough a few years ago, Andy I think his name was, he did a good job and knew his stuff, although in proper light I found the colour match wasn't the best, I called him up and he came to do it again no hassle, was perfect the second time round. Would recommend.

This guy lives just round the corner from me and his van doesn't move for days at a time so not sure if he's still doing it. I've been meaning to speak to him about sorting a few scratches on the Chim.

Funnilly enough I was only thinking earlier today that maybe we should employ Pistonheads buying power & see if we could get a deal with a few of us.

He was quite up for giving me 17.5% discount when I paid him cash, so if he is still going with it I'd imagine he'd be happy to offer some discount. That said, when he came to me the first time, I had a dent and about 4 reasonable scratches I wanted doing, which took him all day, when he returend to better colour match the work it took him the morning to complete, so i'm not sure how many he'd get done in a day. Of course, if he was guaranteed the work he could call in a few others from surrounding areas I should think.

Clearly, it would have been some form of discount rather than removing the VAT as that would be illegal smile

I had some minor damage repaired on a previous car (child, bike, scrathed door) and was very happy with the result. Dave

Do you reckon he'd cover the Towcester area? It might be a little out of his way.

Anyone have any experience with Eraze-a-chip (Karl) in Towcester?

The OH had her car sorted by chips away last week as some nice chav put a big deep scratch scross 2/3 of the bonnet of her Celica. Someone from bedford picked the car up in the morning and dropped it back in the evening

Cost 240 plus VAT although i haven't seen the car in decent light yet to double check the colour match though.

Indeed, i've edited my error to show it was infact a discount, rather than anything untoward.

I spotted last night that the Northampton 'chipper' has a full page ad in the local freebie paper.

I have never used the guy, but if anyone wants details I can pass them on.

I might try the Northampton Chips away.

The foreign cleaner at work has just driven into my bumper (scratched but not dented, luckily).

I want to live in Poland, it must be nice and quiet there.

If you do, let me know how you get on. I was thinking I might let them have a go at a scratch on my Focus before letting them loose on something more expensive.

The local chipsaway guy for Northampton is on PHs... usually to be found on the Porsche forum.

My car was repaired yesterday.

You can't see any remaining scratches and the painted area is flat.

At the mo' it's not a good as the original paint work. I am hoping that in a week when the paint really is set, that I can give it a good buff and polish and that the shine will be back.

He is a nice guy and scores 10/10 for keeping me updated with arrival time and booking.
