Test Drive & Wildlife
Discussion
Dolf has borrowe a Chrysler 300C for a test drive for a couple of days so we went for a bite to eat tonight and on the way back stopped off at Eyebrook Res for a pootle round.
Mrs TT spotted a kestrel sitting on a concrete post munching on a vole so we stopped to watch and were no more than 6 feet away. It speant about 10 minutes there quite happily ignoring us. A special moment!
On the way back, via Uppingham we saw another 2 Kestrels, a Muntjack, several tiny bunnies and some Heron. Quite a nice eveing in all
We're off to Misterley tomorrow to shoot some large calibre rifles so probably won't have any shoulders left by tomorrow night!

May I suggest the Russian PTRD 14.5mm Sir ?
Designed to make holes in small tanks it worked a treat as a snipers rifle.
The same cartridge has been making holes in helicopters from Afganistan to, well other places where they use(d) helicopters a lot. (Used in a big machine gun for that)
None of this namby pamby 50 cal, good proletariat metric 14.5 mil.
Svobodnya Rossiya !
(as your mate Mr. Smolensk would say)
Probably lots going surplus in Poland and Czech Republic now.

Shot a nice H&H 375 today. I managed about 15 rounds but its a reall meaty shove in the shoulder with circa 60 grains of a medium burn powder behind a 300 grain bullet from a realtively light rifle. Ask Dolf about it!
Also managed circa 60 rounds of .308 plus lots of .223 and .22 galore.
Good fun but tiring! And the Cafe was closed so we came home HUNGRY!!!
