Well then, if the police aren't interested perhaps you should pop round his house & check if its for real. If the car is there take anote of the reg number and post it on PH and we'll all keep a look out for you and when we find the guy we'll brake test him. If he hits enough of us then the police will have to intervene. Quite apart from the fact that he probably has no insurance scratchchin

Steve,

When a collision occurs between two motor vehicles and no-one is injured, both parties are bound by the law to exchange details. If you have done so then it's left to the insurance companies to sort out.
However...
If no details are exchanged, then to comply with the law under the road traffic act it becomes a reportable accident.

Take your details to the police station (not phone them) and get them to do the work. You will need your MOT, Insurance V5 etc... but since you have the other guy's phone number, get the police to trace it legitimately - the other guy is committing an offence by failing to provide details, or failing to report the accident if he has not exchanged details.

I'm not a Law expert, but we get these type of calls reguarly.

Good luck.

Paul.

I've made the decision to forget it. No major damage just scratches which will mostly polish out.
The reason i was so infuriated was the attitude of the guy which was appalling and abusive
Never had any intention of involving insurance companies just wanted the info in case. Was going to offe rhim the chance to pay in cash and leave it at that.
From info given by others even if nothing happens it will be on my insurance record and i really don't want that.

To be fair to the constabulary: what they can achieve is limited by what the CPS will take on. If there is no independent witness or, photographic evidence, the CPS will not act. They are worried their Pounds Sterling spent per prosecution achieved ratio will be spoilt. The "targets achieved mob" are not just in the health service. It's supposed to give us taxpayers value for money.

Burg :Do let us know who we should look out for - avoid that is - not on the forum, but at TP some Wednesday.

The scum driver you met is a menace to each and every one of us.

Got an appolgy from Mr Tosser and all is forgiven, ish!
It's only a little scratch and compared to the damage i did at the back is irrelevant and all this only happenend due to him consuming beer and being a cock!
Please look at the thread on P&P for further info.

Car is Ford Focus estate 03 reg and lives in Northants, thats vague enough i think to get away with!
