As you may know British Superbikes were at Silverstone at the weekend.

I had to travel along the A43 on Saturday and Sunday.

There were signs up all over the place telling bikers not to speed.

In addition to the ordinary speed cameras, there were vans on both sides on the road near Silverstone for the weekend.
I don't know if this was to generate extra revenue or to actually encourage people to slow down.
I didn't see any daft action on the A43, even though there were lots of bikes.

Here are the results of the anti speed campaign www.northamptonchron.co.uk/news?articleid=2842650
Lots more cars speeding than bikes!

It's such a shame when these such articles appear in the press. Yes speeding is breaking the law, but how may of us have gone over the limit for a short while or when overtaking?

Modern vehicles, motorbikes & cars, are very capable of travelling at speeds well in excess of the limit, and lets not forget, that limit was imposed in 1968. However it also pays to remember that all of those are also capable of stopping faster too.

What really riles me is that the press gets away with plastering inaccurate information all over the place .... you don't get arrested for speeding unless you are riding/driving a vehicle with no license/insurance etc... then you deserve to.

What about the average Joe who gets caught going 10mph over the limit while overtaking by one of the hidden camera's half a mile away, he gets lumped under the same umbrella as the few who spoil it for the majority.

ok, off my soap-box now.... happy motoring.!

"The highest speed detected was a motorcyclist travelling at 92mph in a 70mph limit near Towcester."

That's not speeding yikes - I would class this under "accidental throttle slip"
