I think theyre probably right to be honest. A brake pads just a brake pad really you get cheap ones and expensive ones but its the calipers that exert the pressure on the pad to make the brakes work, a squeal is just a very high frequency vibration and should go away once they bed in, if it persisted you might have an issue. Im sure somebody who knows a bit more than me will be along shortly.
You should have a part number on your invoice to check against manufactures listing for ST 170 (either Ford or pad manufacturer) may even give you number in your car's handbooks (?)
You can get squeal sometimes, the cause is as above but the solution . . . ?
Always bed brakes in gently for a good while of use (i.e. 100 miles on a quiet motorway in the middle of the night and you might not have touched your brakes once)
If you're not happy go back and make them check they're got the right pads and have fitted them properly you can never be too careful with brakes especially with a performance vehicle
I've had brake pads that have acted as audible warning for the next town, tried everything can't remember how it was resolved, sorry, I've had so many cars with so many problems
I've had brakes components fitted by a male employee of a national quick concern that had to be redone expertly by a young female employee so don't worry about your gender

Hope you didn't go to Formula 1 at Sixfields.... that's exactly what they said to me when I said my brakes on the Rover squeeled.... always use copper ease now.
A teenager they employ as a manager also said " your exhaust has to carbon up inside the silencer, that's why it's resonating in the cabin so much " - I took him with me for a drive.! The wrong back box had been fitted.
Is it just my age.?

Where did you take it, a dealers? I'm really suprised that a main ford dealer would fit anything other than the correct parts? considering how much they normally rip you off by Edited by matt172 on Thursday 12th April 00:04
