Looking at getting myself a TR7 Drophead, but have been told on no uncertain terms that it isnt allowed at the house due to us already having 3 and a bit cars, and no garage/drive space.

Just wondered if anyone knows where to start when looking for a garage or any idea of how much one would cost me?

Many thanks.

Oliver have you ever driven a 60s/70s car ?

Do you know what you'd be letting yourself in for ?

If I turn up with one of my old bangers, sorry I mean classics, you can experience a little of what its like

It'll need to be cold and raining for best effect

One thing you wouldn't have to worry about ECUs or warning lights generally

Bona fide 80s supercar, front engined V8, 300 horses, german build quality, never rust, classic car mags always raving about em...... Quentin Willson almost talked me into getting one about 12 years back!

One thing you wouldn't have to worry about ECUs or warning lights generally I have a ODBII reset tool now, so the Astra isn't too much hassle anymore, although does lightup like a christmas tree when the errors appear, and the ECU light burns into my retina

Also with it comes the wonderous German 80s supercar insurance bill. I tried to get a Porsche all be it a 924, and the insurance companies laughed at me. Even on a 1000mile second car policy.

There's a TVR sized space in my garage at the moment......... Although I hope to change that in the next couple of weeks, otherwise you could borrow that for a while.

I may be wrong, but sure someone told me that the Self-store place behind Maplin in Winterhill will store cars for people going abroad for long periods etc so you might be able to rent space there. Have no idea of cost (friend used a similar one in Peterboro-bosnia, to store some garden machinery and think the rates where not astronomical). You can usually come and go as you please with these places, so could treat it like a garage rather than storage, plus it is inside a big container, so security should be pretty good.

Do you know what you'd be letting yourself in for ? No, but that is part of the fun - remember that when the money's gone

If I turn up with one of my old bangers, sorry I mean classics, you can experience a little of what its like It'll need to be cold and raining for best effect You'll have to stop the rain leaking on the ignition first - that was only in the GT6 sir, Capri cabin is water tight, I meant an old car heater

One thing you wouldn't have to worry about ECUs or warning lights generally I have a ODBII reset tool now, - now is that a real tool or one of theses non-TV program thingies

A friend in the Bears has a TR7, think he's had it 30 years, this is the last time I saw it on the road must be at least four years ago

He bought a new MGF then replaced that with a new MGTF, haven't seen the TR7 since but I know it's still resting in his garage (did you see what I done there, a bit of diplomacy by changing one letter)

Contact the ocal Council. They usually have lock up garages to rent in many areas. The one I rent for the Rover is about 3 miles away in a small village.

Cost has just gone up to £7.26 per week.

James, note the quality of pic, the gold badge and the perpex covers over the maim beam lights (the ones that would be (and are on the V8S) fog lights on any other car
