Autocar, at the time, called this the poor man's Porsche and featured the model on the front cover with that headline

I know a few Porsche owners and it would be nice to show them this front cover as proof, anyone got still got that issue ?

I owned one!
Enormous fun car to dry and quite lively too for a 1300.
Handling was great fun.
Great for beating XR3i boys, many a shocked / shamed face.
(Only car i ever made a profit on too).
Not seen one for years now.

Steve, Thanks

Don't know about XR3is but this is from my Profile about my 130 saloon

"Heard all the jokes, biggest one was the BMW that couldn't loose this car on the B526!"

Only mod I put on the car (apart from fog and driving lights) was a set of Eagle tyres, grip was excellent as i found when I had to switch to a harder wearing set and had to slow down a bit on the bends

Best mod was electronic ignition, not sure what it gained but was a fair bit and revved like mad. They weren't rally winners year in year out for nothing.
Best and rarest was the 136 Sport, flowed head, cam, exhaust and webber carb, noisy as hell but went like the clappers.

Absolutely not!
Would really like to get another.
Nobody makes cheap fun cars anymore. Skoda now are just standard expensive VAGs.
(Sure my missus wouldn't want to borrow it either

Skoda 130 LS

Cortina Mk3 1300 L

I'll go through every variant possible

My Gramps had a Mk5 Cortina 1600 with the vinyl/cloth brown trim in a lovely terricota orange. We had it for a while after he passed away, shame it was sold before i learnt to drive else i'd still have it.

Mk5 were the big square ones, unless it had power steering I don't think you'd like it so much today

I'll have to get you parking the Capri so you know hehe

The Cortina is a Mk3 2000E (Execitive laugh manaully operated foot windscreen washer, no headrest but velor seats and wood door caps) 2.0 pinto engine same as Capri (I think)

Next one'll be easy for you

Face lift model, Mk3 Cortina ! ? ! Never trust computers mate, Mk3 was the "coke bottle shape" Cortina after the smaller square Mk2. I don't know, the errors on some sites rolleyes Blimey my memory is better than a computer (says very little for either)

What's it say about Estelle II 120LS, thats the photo I was going to put up next but it would be too difficult to identify exactly

In late 1973, the car received a facelift. Outside, there were revised grilles, rectangular headlights for the XL, GT and the new 2000E which replaced the GXL. The 1.3 L Kent engine was carried over but now, 1.6 L models all used the more modern 1.6 L SOHC engine.

They say the following about the skoda

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%A0ko

I do however take what that site says with a pinch of salt most of the time, a encylopedia site which allows any tom dick and infact harry update what is said about a subject is always asking for trouble of some kind. Just don't take any medical advice from it

To be fair this is a question of interpretation and how you read it, as the 2000E was a new model it came after the facelift or the one one in the photo did becuase it's a '74 N reg (I knew the car from almost brand new) so we're both right (I think)

I can't remember the 125, wished they had a photo, info look very good from what little I know so I'll apologise for my remarks about this site

Yes that makes a sense, like not spraying WD40 everywhere even when told on a site to

I'd be worried if you are spraying WD40 all over yourself for a medical issue
