In the process of rebuilding the P5 I need to get my hands on an SD1 timing cover.

I don't suppose anyone has one lying around in their garage that I could acquire?

There MUST be one/some knocking about somewhere. If not locally, then someone on the Rover forum?

have you tried evilbay, there's a few on there at the moment, got one when I needed to change from a RR cover to an SD1 cover (apparently the water pump sits lower) for my cobra.

FFS... you've already said there's only one on fleabay and no-one else is queuing up to offer you any. Would you spend half an hour of your life boxing a filthy thing like that and then the other half rubbing shoulders with the pee-smelling pensioners and 'sport-wear' clad serial mums in the post office for less? Oh, after using half a gallon of fuel driving there and paying a couple of quid to park for the pleasure? No? What, not even as an act of kindness to a stranger?rolleyes

A lawyer's POV!

Perhaps I'm strange (Ok, I am) but the stuff i have sold on e-bay (not huge amounts) I have cgarged the actual postage costs plus £1 for packaging.

The seller has a different take and you knew the score before bidding. End of debate really (and THAT'S the lawyer's POV)

Yep, knew score and acted appropriately - set my max bid to include postage - No debate at all.

I wasn't "bitching", merely commenting albei with a hint of sarcasm.

If the guy wants to achieve a minimum price then why not start it at a minimum bid instead of trying to hide what he wants in the postage costs that might catch out the less observant. Not that I think that was what he was trying to do. Heaven forbid.

To my mind Postage and packing is exactly that.

I notice that the new Ebay feedback allows comment on several criteria of transactions, including whether the postage costs are reasonable. The practice of inflated postage costs is becomeing more prevalent so the start bid appears low.

A neighbour of mine bought a small wood turning lathe at £20.00 but the postage was £25.00. My neighbour told the vendor he'd collect it as he passes the vendors location on his way to work every day. The vendor got most upset and started moaning about making a loss.

Just for the record, as I said earlier, I decided what I would be willing to pay inc postage and that was what I bid.

Yeah, it would be pretty dumb to hide something like that in a section of an auction site headed 'postage', wouldn't it? rolleyes

Well, I didn't notice him offering to throw in a blowjob...

And the postage charge is declared, so take it or leave it. What's so difficult about that? Is it the maths?

Anecdote; hearsay at best. No evidential value regardless

And as I said earlier, for the record, 'why bitch'? Fact is, he had it, you wanted it, he dictated the terms, you agreed to them (as a matter of contract). End of; everyone's happy. Aren't they? confused
