Ben , I'm really gutted for you. that's the pits. Make sure that you nail the buggers for the full cost of a replacement car to the same standard (start collecting ads from Autotrader etc) and then if they write your car off, buy it back & have it repaired properly with some cash to spare.
I really feel for you as I know how much you like this car. And it is a nice one.
Did you have any witnesses? You may find the "young lad in fast car" syndrome will kick in and the insurance co's will try and go knock for knock assuming you were being irresponsible - I really hope this isn't the case but be aware it can happen.
If you have to send a report to the insurance co, make sure it is detailed and include photographs of the scene as well if poss.
Keep us informed.

If they do you can probably buy it back for next to nothing and get the money so could be Ok?
P.S. 1949 Citreon?
Downside is that it would be a classified write off but as long as you intend to keep it for a while its no big deal - make sure you document the repais made for if/when you eventually sell it.

Did you have any witnesses? .
Yes i had my girlyfriend's cousin in the car, we had just finished playing golf
Did you manage to get any independant witnesses? If things get heated with 50/50 etc, give Anniesdad a email, he's sorted a few people out on here in the past

Unfortunately Ben they have to be independant and anyone in your car is seen as biased. I know from bitter experience: when a courier lorry cut me up on the rounsabout on J7 A14 in 1999 - guy jumps out & says sorry it was his fault - my mate in car witnessed him say it but when push came to shove he denied it was his fault and gave an entirely fictional version of events . The ins co wouldn't take my witness' account seriously and ended up going 50/50 - I was livid as it was on company insurance and I was made redundant shortly after the incident (no connection) and didn't know anything about the settlement until I needed conf from my employers of my 11 year impeccable driving record in my company car! It cost me dear!

sounds not disimilar to the crunch I had, going into the Saints carpark down Ross road, the guy in the disco decided he was in the wrong place, stuck it in reverse and went straight into me, rear step on the back door went into my rad. he got out and appologised. ended up 50/50 because he said I ran into the back of him matt172 said:
