Since Black Tie and Pie is being held in Northants this year I figured a blip could be organised.

I know many will be having their own runs to get there and there seems to be a lot of focus on getting pissed (still don't understand the deliberate setting out to get bladdered and be ill all the next day...) but it's open to all and I'm happy to go with a group small or large.

Open to all, not just people going to the event, so let me know if you'd be interested.

www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?p=1&f=102&t=308687&h=0

Also provides a good excuse to meet up with some fellow PHers at the Hotel!

BtaP and the eurohoon pissups (Stef's been on that, and there was no hoon, just a meet in a pub, was a night of getting very drunk and having a good time) are an excuse to meet up with friends from last years BTaP, and new people you've met during the year, have a slack hand full of beer, good food, few more drinks and generally have a good time. Most people turn up on saturday afternoon, park their cars up and don't get back in them until sunday morning when its time to drive home with a hang over, its what BTaP is, maybe Mark, you should buy a ticket and go, if you've never been, how can you make an opinion of it? We spend all year being pistonheads, whats the problem with one night of being pissheads?

Nope, me either. I'm with Stef & Mark on this one. Perhaps a step further becauise I never really understood the need for alcohol at all. Known at the Kettering meet as the Coffee Kid (More like Coffee Codger I know!)

Getting drunk just makes people sill and I can be silly without getting drunk! silly

BTaP is on a MOnday isn't it? Not really the best night to go out for a black tie do IMHO

Jeez... what a bunch of puritans. I'll get my mate Netahnial to bring over some spikes for you to sit on while you dine on scruptious raw turnip. Who's wearing the comedy breasts? Wicked children!

Not sure the drive home with a hangover is a very sound plan though Matt?

No, it makes them relaxed, lowers inhibitions, acts as a social stimulant, tastes good, and gives them a buzz. Until they fight. All solid entertainment. Loosen up Daddio

never said I drove home with a hangover did I? It's like everything I guess, everyone can have an opinion on things, each to there own and all that. I was just saying what I think BTaP is about, maybe Stef shoud post this in the Black tie forum and see what everyone else thinks, like I said to Mark, maybe you should come and see what its about before you make comment on it

Oh FFS... I was trying to illustrate I thought there was nothing wrong with going out for a drink. Maybe the Blackadder reference and irony was a bit too much, or it wasn't read properly (where have we heard that before? rolleyes ). Forget it.

And I am not suggsting drinking is bad thing but purposefully intending to get pissed seems a bit silly. Personally I enjoy the effects a few drinks give (depending on circumstances and surroundings) but don't set out with the intention to spend vast sums of cash and lose complete control not to mention feel awful the next day.

Each to their own but I feel I grew out of that when I was in my early teens (urgh the memories of while lightning... hurl )

Pupp's just on his usual top form I see! hehe Must borrow the Blackadder set

Oh, and my run thread is also on the BTaP forun hence the link provided. But observing the banter already set about drink, prompting my comments here, I think the general opinion is already clear.

Pupp, maybe that camera could become useful?!

I do also warn that alcohol stays in the body a long time and I'm sure many people will be putting their licences at risk driving the next day. Some fellow Ketteringites here know a story all too well on the implications that can have.

Anyhow, group hug doodes! See most of you tonight! (for a coffee! hehe )

I must be "speshul" as I don't get the "buzz" thing.

In my experience it just makes people loud, selfish, stupid & ultimately aggresive.

On the positive side, it is one of the few things that keeps the economy fluid (pardon the pun)!

As for driving after a few drinks, or even the next day whilst "recovering" - your choice - just accept the consequences, whetaever they may be and stay away from me and mine please.

Loosen up? Hmmm. If going out with the intention of getting drunk is loose then i'm happy to stay tight thanks.

Well, if the effects of alcohol are so bad Mark, it's a surprise you've devoted so much of your life to mingling in errr licensed premises and parties etc, with errr inebriated folk. Masochism is it?
