OK so this is a blatant plea for help following a discussion at last Thursday's meet.

Many of you know about my car port issues and the fact it has been left half built for a year now and needs completion.

My builder is not returning calls and become un-contactable and I am too short of cash to pay anyone else.

The frame is all there. I need to roof it with clear duplex sheeting, move the garage door a foot out, put up guttering and re-woodstain it.

The roof and garage door moving are the main areas I need assistance in the rest I could get on with safely myself.

Not to let you help me without reward here I can happily supply refreshments and food and hopefully have a fun day with fellow PHers. Of course a drive can also be planned!

Cheers all!

Righty.

I have the plastic sheeting.

Things that urgently need doing include:

Woodstaining the roof beams (the rest can be done later)
Prepping the plastic sheets (fill the ends to prevent stuff getting in and making them dirty)
Cutting fixing strips for the joins
Fitting the sheets to form the roof.

The guttering, rest of staining and garage door issue are less urgent and I can get on with a few of those bits myself.

I was looking at next weekend (7/8 October)as I am down South this weekend seeing folks and taking part in the Tunnel Run.

Can all kind volunteers plase confirm if the w/e of 7/8 October is OK? Weather permitting of course.

Cheers!

Stef, are you intending to do the woodstaining and platic sheet end sealing in advance of the "work party"? It would save lots of time so that the volunteers can do the heavy stuff needing more pairs of hands.

Should be able to seal the sheets but the woodstaining I'm not sure. I won't have much time before then and currently lack a ladder to paint the beams.

What about getting an odd job man to do it, there are always people locally who would paint etc?

Would be best to do the painting first (i.e. well in advance) otherwise you end up getting covered in paint when trying to erect the roof etc.

You might have had a bit more luck if you'd done the stuff that Tyre Tread suggested first. Or are you expecting people to give up more than just one of their weekends to help/do it for you?

It's all in hand.

We don't talk everything on line! Unless you require me to publish it all? Help is at very kindly hand.

It's a shame that some people have to flit on and lower the ethos of PH by making unnecessary childish sarcastic digs. Thankfully that's not the help I am receiving.
