Hi all.

Last week i got a new (to me) S2 Lotus. I live in the rushden area, so hope at some point I can perhaps join in some of the runs that you organise?
Now on to my plea !!
My radiator is leaking the classic broken front plastic section has gone... I need somewhere local to me that you recommend that could fix it for me. I dont really have the time to do it myself and i`m a it scared to take the front clam off.

So who do you recommend?

Once again hi to all of you

Cheers
Nathan

Hi nathan, welcome to PH
Don't know of any good gargages over that way, but I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction, as for runs etc, there is normally a Kettering meet on thursdays, and the next Northants run is on 13th Aug see here www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?t=270437&f=65&h=0 starts off at dove house in Rushden, good to see you there if you can get your car sorted in time.

Thanks for your help guys. Still on the search for a garage. The radiator hasn`t completely gone just weeping at the mo, but wont be long so dont want to risk driving it too far if i dont have to.
Has anyone used Racing Developments in MK? if so what is your opinion of them?

P.S. getting tempted to have a go myself now, just need to convince myself that taking the front clam off isn`t such a big job!!

Cheers
Nathan

The team at Guglielmi Motorsport are Lotus specialists. They`re in Daventry on 01327878425. And they wont rip you off!

Nathan Hi,

It would be good to see you and the car at the local meets. Mark took his Cerbrea over to gguiiiggimmiili motorsport a few days ago, and they looked after him. Peter (yellow elise) I think wenty to visit them today.
I have had experience with slightly leaking radiator, and found that using a compound where you can see the leak is a very good fix. I had this on my Tuscan Radiator 3000 miles ago now. I used JB weld putty type stuff. Holding up OK and probably will never let go. - Justin

justin, great looking car The problem is to get to this section of the radiator you need to take the clam off, so i may as well just replace the radiator!!
Just hope it holds long enough to get to a garage!

Hiya

Wouldn't recommend Radweld on a high performace engine as it can clog up areas that you don't want clogged.

Nathsea, do the job properly. I don't know what's involved in removing the clam but I'll bet there's someone on the Lotus are of the site that does.

Good luck and it would be good to see you at the Kettering meet sometime.

I was just saying on another thread... you would feel right at home in the field we stayed in at Le Mans as there were about 40 sylvas- think it was the owners club...

Hi Nath,

Welcome to PH.

I used to have an S2 elise and after a short departure to an M3 i'm now back in a sportscar! (an S2 Exige). As has been said you need to remove the front clam in order to fix the leak. Its not difficult but i wouldn't want to do it myself tbh. I would suggest an indepenant as main dealers will charge alot. I seem to remember a friend with an S2 getting charged nearly £500 to replace the rad!

I've not used an independant yet as my car is still warrantied, but you could talk to :-

www.horizonmotorsport.co.uk
www.scaredstifff.com

Hope that helps,

Si.
