Looking for local knowledge about good places to eat in/around Daventry. So far we have found Old Coach House, but the food is hit and miss.

Thanks.

Coach house i've found never had a problem with.

Local village places that are good.
Crossroads - weedon
Narrowboat - weedon
Kings head - napton ( advise to book as it can get busy )
Countryman - staverton
Windmill - Badby

Middlemore in Daventry i think is good, anywhere else can be pretty hit and miss., Queen of hearts has its ups and downs. Thats about your lot for in town tbh!
Unless you want takeaways,
Trawlers, michaels, danetree fish and chip shops are all good.
Asia Tandori for a curry
Canton House for a chinese

Been local for years so know them pretty well.

second for The Countryman at Staverton - very well kept real ale there too

you might also try the Old Red Lion, Litchborough, they have a farm so use their own meat, ale is well kept there too

Thanks very much for all suggestions. We have been to Queen of Hearts, (if that is a pub next to tesco express) once and it was 'orrible.

Thanks once again. I don't mind driving further away for quality food.

Admiral Nelson at Braunston - typical pub grub. They also have decent ale.
Fox and Hounds at Harlestone is worth a look.
Royal Oak at Eydon is a trek, but worthwhile

Try the Folly in Napton, really good food and if its an indian you want try Brinjol at Weedon, food is exceptional especially on a wed night when they do the buffet meal for 9.95.
2nd Skylark also, Dave and Sam do really good food.

Used Skylark farm shop for years, but never eaten there - seems we should give it a go!

Shoulder of Mutton, Grandborough. New owner (now a Free House), excellent restaurant, good selection of Real Ales.

If its Chinese you want, I think Happy Chef takeaway is the best now in Daventry, granted its not the best place to sit in and eat but the standard of food is very good.
If we want a sit down meal we travel to Wing Wha in Coventry, excellent choice of food with probably 80+ dishes and only 11.99 a head on a week night or 12.99 on a weekend so you can fill your boots for reasonable cost.

If you are willing to travel another 30mins to Straford Upon Avon, The Rooftop restaurant at the Royal Shakespeare theatre is fantastic, if you can book the "round room", even better..

Just around the corner is No 9 Church Street, also another very good restaurant.

If Happy Chef is the one close to the Homebase, I'll agree with you. Very good place, only issue is they don't take cards for delivery smile.

That's HC. Their cooked was broken last week so ended up at the Water Margin, which was better than expected smile

Water margin is a good 2nd to Happy Chef. Never eaten at Jacks café but plan to start attending the car gatherings on the Friday eve when they start up again.
