Depends what sort of house you want for your budget. Whittlebury is very nice but your budget would get a 3 bed ex council semi detached, but down the road Deanshanger for example not quite as pretty but you would get a large 4 bed detached for the same budget.

Byfield. Named one of the top 101 places to live in Britain. Nice village life & community, good school & nursery.

I would have thought it better to be east of the M1, just to avoid the inevitable snarl ups.

Its a wide area ...

Yardley Gobion, Pottersbury, Hartwell, Roade, Olney, Buckingham (Technically not Northants but Buckinghamshire), Towcester.. All nice areas with Schools and commute etc.

A former colleague of mine built in Earls Barton when he was looking in similar circumstances. Mid way between Northampton and Wellingborough - seemed quite nice when I visited him.

Looks like you can get some nice stuff for your budget: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

Thank you so much for the replies, yes South Northamptonshire as it will be closer to home (Berkshire) for me.
When researching I came across Wootton?
Thanks again.

Wootton is nice enough, although its more a part of Northampton than a town or village as Northampton has got larger. Classic car meet at the pub there 1 Sunday a month.

Great,

Anybody have any opinions on Wootton or Grange Park at all?
I would like to be close to the South of Northampton itself and East of the M1.

Thanks again hope everybody had a great XMAS!

I've lived in both. Depends what you want really. If you want new housing estate, then Grange Park or Wootton Fields are ok, pretty much the same as any other housing estate really. I am now in Wootton village and I really like it here. Feel free to PM me if there's anything specific that you want to know.

Oh, and by the way, if you need a decent broadband connection, steer clear of Grange Park. Think you're lucky to get a 2mb connection there, which is ridiculous...

South Northamptonshire is a huge area and you have a healthy budget.
My advice is that you need to decide what is important to you in respect of facilities to hand within the village itslef i.e. pubs, shop, schools, playground.
By way of example I used to live in Milton Malsor which was a great village however it lacked facilities unlike Nether Heyford.

I live in wootton fields and have been here for 5-6 years, 2 great schools which drive the house prices up.
As above broadband connection is better than grange park but not by much!

Have a look at Evenley. Proper little quaint village with a village green with cricket played on a Sunday, little village shop cum post office and most importantly, a great village pub. What more could you want?

And yes, I do live there.

And early on a Sunday morning in the right car you get there from Wellingborough (where I live) in not much over 20 minutes wink

Especially on the first Sunday of the month from March to September where there is a classic and sports car meet at The Red Lion Pub from 9.30 am until midday. They even serve bacon butties too.
