A nice place to live ?
Discussion
I currently rent in the Kettering leisure village area and it's pretty nice. It's quiet and close to all the shops!
Me and Mrs Bored want to have a change of scenery and to get away from our neighbours! (Long story) I was wondering does anyone know of any nice areas I should look out for ? I only know Kettering and Raunds.
I guess you can say this is similar to a what car thread!
- Quiet
- Chav / council house free
- Walking distance to shops as Mrs bored can't drive.
Market Harborough (Close enough to northamptonshire! lol) looks very nice. Anyone know of any other nice areas ?

Agreed, I would avoid Raunds too!
Market Harborough is nice, Oundle is similar (even nicer) but more expensive.
The nicest places around here are the villages, but obviously more expensive and hardly any shops.
If you can afford it Id go for Oundle personally. Ive lived in and around there all my life and its always been a very nice town

Lol, only reason I know of Raunds is because I lived there most of my child/teen life It seemed a nice place but then again I never went out
Oundle is a good shout, been through there a few times and it looks really nice. Completley forgot about that place! thanks

I live in Mawsley, nice enough place. Quiet and chav free, though there is some social housing but i've been here 6 years and never had any problems with any yoofs hanging about, the biggest scandal round here is dog poo on the playing field. Have a few shops (that always has decent offers on beer) a small bar that shows the footy, kiddy play area etc....

I lived in Higham Ferrers for a few years and felt it was the best of the bunch around that neck of the woods. My only reservation would be that it's a little remote if your mrs has to walk everywhere. That said, there is a nice little centre with a few shops and I can't think of too many other places in that vicinity where there is a greater mass of shops etc within walking distance.
I didn't bond with Northants in general but still miss the odd pint in the Griffin on a winters day and the Dragon's garden on a summers day.
If it's at all of interest, I still have a house there that I might think about selling - 4 bed, garage etc.

Thrapston is ok, but lacking for any interesting shops if you want anything other than day to day basics.
As a place to live, its ok though.
Id' certainly rather live there than Raunds or Irthingborough thats for sure!
(Ive lived there 4 or 5 times and grown up around the town all my life)

Mrs Fish and I live on the Venture Park (the newish one by big Tescos).
It's a nice area, you have the park hotel up the road if you want a nice quiet drink or the Parkhouse for pub grub, along with nandos and the flicks all within walking distance, its near to Tescos for shopping and just off the A14 to get away from K-hole
I refuse to move any nearer to the centre of Kettering for the chavvy little sts and thieving bds!
