What a nightmare of a weekend. Decided to spray my alloy wheels with this plastidip stuff people go on about, only to spend all day yesterday trying to get the wheels off! I think some tyre monkey has done the locking nuts up way too tight with a gun. The locking key doesn't look healthy either, it just slips off when I give it any pressure.
I went to 3 garages but they turned me away, eventually got a helpful one which got it off for me with a breaker bar. Only to get home and struggle to get it off again after they nipped it up! Oh, and at this stage I discovered I couldn't get all 4 locking nuts off. So it's either the key that's knackered or my crap tools are useless.

Sorry for yapping on but my question is does anyone know a garage that can get my nuts off wink ? I suspect many of them won't want to get involved with this. (I don't care if the nuts break, I have spares)

Cheers smile

edit: Don't want to go back to the garage that managed to get it off as they hinted they don't normally do this stuff. Don't want to take the pee.

What do the nuts look like ?

I've easily removed locking wheel nuts in the past by hammering a socket over the nut and using a breaker bar.

Trouble is it has a spinning shroud on the outside, plus my tool collection is erm...very small lol. Don't think I've got a socket big enough frown

Ah ok, it's those type. Think it can be done with the same method but requires a bit more effort.

I might know someone in the area, making enquiry now for you. I assume you can provide V5/MOT/Insurance docs.

Sheltune have a bit of kit which will sort it for you, had exactly the same issue with my BMW, tried a few garage all said no, sheltune had them off in ten mins! No damage to the wheel either

Selecta Tyre (Stamford road one) in Kettering got some off for me years ago by hammering on a bigger socket.
Even then it was very very hard as he had to hammer it on with a sledge hammer! Thankfully he was a good aim, and the wheels didn't have a single mark on after

Hi mate, yeah all sorted. I did it myself in the end. Got real censoreded off and went ape censoredit with a breaker bar. Scratched my wheels though, oh well it's just a Clio heh.

My wheels have now been sprayed yay!
