I'm looking to get the brake pads replaced on my DB9. Don't want to have to pay Aston dealer rates for this relatively simple task, so am looking for a garage in/around Northampton that are capable of handling the car the job and the car. Any ideas?
Thanks

They're brake pads. You could do them.

I always take my Evo to Optimum Performance. The owner (Lee) is an ex-WRC mechanic and sound bloke.

Give him a ring and he'll recommend pads to suit your driving style.

Haven't got the time or the equipment to do them. Plus I'd rather know a professional had fitted the things that are going to stop my 6l V12 engine, with me attached, from going straight on when hit the stop pedal driving

It was more a comment on your "capable of handling the car the job and the car" (I didn't originally notice that you said 'the car' twice) as if it's some kind of mega-complicated and highly technical job that needed a factory-trained technician, no doubt preferably one who has worked with the Le Mans team, to change some flipping brake pads. I doubt very much whether it's any more complicated or difficult to perform on an Aston than it is on a Nisan Micra, is it?

It will probably be easier doing it on the Aston. But if he doesn't want to give it a bash then so be it. It's not really the weather for messing about with cars.

Changing brakes is straight forward and easy, assuming ever nut/bolt is not seized, previously rounded, corroded and the discs aren't welded to the hub.

I changed the discs and pads all round on my car at the weekend and it should have been a 1hour job but no, due to the above reasons it took 4 hours out in the cold and at the end of it I didn't have that "oh I have just done a job on my car aren't I great" feeling, I was thoroughly fked off. All to save a a few pennies!

OP, as long as you find a garage which isn't going to rape your DB7 whilst "testing" the newly fitted brakes any garage should be able to check them and adjust if necessary.

Templetons in Rushden (01933 355435) can do this for you. They handle all sorts of high performance and prestige cars. They did plenty of work on my 911 and 360 and I was always pleased with their work. They used to do all the work for Dove House before they built their own garage to do all their mechanical work. Actually, they are round the corner from Templetons and would be able to to the work as well. Their number is 01933 354140.
