I've repaired these myself a couple of times.

1. With the door closed jam something under the end that has come unwound to support it at the right level.
2. Undo the two bolts that hold the piece with the wire attached to the door.
3. Straighten the wire.
4. Get someone to lever the door up from the bottom (with it still closed) and try and re-attached the wire holder to the door. (this is the difficult bit) If they can lever the door up a bit higher than it usually sits this releases the pressure on the cable/wire and lets you re-attach the holder successfully.
5. Very carefully open the door, ensuring the wire goes in the slots in the cone shaped piece at the top of the door near the spring.

If you are anywhere near Upton I could perhaps lend a hand.

OK, Little bit of a thread hijack but since we are on the topic of garage doors...

My garage has two metal open out doors and I'm looking for an up and over.

Anyone local interested in an exchange or have experience in fitting garage doors? I'd love electric but budget cannot justify frown

Thanks!
