Some eagle eyed local PHers may of seen the sorry site of little Blipi up the grass bank on the A14 near the M1/M6.

An unfortunate aquaplane with a relatively lucky dodge of all traffic and trees skidding up the bank!

Initial rescue was to be due to her being dug into the mud and safety of drive considering the amount of mud in wheels etc.

Upon arrival, rescue call to unbelievably tell that a Porsche had also aquaplaned and smacked into me :'(

Still no idea on extent of damage.

Anyway, leads to to ask feedback on Fix Auto Kettering, the Insurance approved centre. They don't obviously specialise in my car or sports cars, no idea on fibreglass. My preferred is Bedford Body on the Leyland Trading Est, Wellingborough.

Advice and opinions on Fix Auto and best optins appreciated thanks.

Fingers crossed little Blipi isn't considered a write off.

Gutted, unhappy and deeply concerned over my baby frown

So sorry to hear this but glad that you are ok?

For info there's a thread in the Porsche forum about the 968 with some pics.

So sorry Blipi, I can't believe two '90s red sports cars had identical accidents in the same spot

Here is the unfortunate pair:

I was hesitant to post this one up, this is what I saw when I got out of the car and rushed over in case there was someone still in it, whith my heart in my mouth

Mine will almost certainly be written off, it is rippled right up to the B pillar

And you can clearly see this side of the 'lake' that caused the accident in this picture where the white line at the side of the road disappears, it stretched across to the other side of the road. Why they didn't put more warnings up I don't know, all they had was one matrix sign about 5 miles back

Sorry to hear that Steph. It doesn't look good for poor little Blipi.

So long as you and the other driver are OK, that's the man thing. It was lucky you weren't still in your car.

I suppose this is proof that wide tyres on light cars on flooded roads are not a good combination.

Thanks Fat Albert

So gutted for us both. Cannot believe the unfortunate fate that you had to come off at the same place and then hit me! Two beautiful rare cars lost from the road :'(

And couldn't imagine the panick you must of had thinking someone may of been inside! We are both blessed to be up and ok, and to of not involved anyone else. Soooo many potential other outcomes... dread to consider.

Really thought the recovery bloke was winding me up as I was so protective and concerned over her rescue, of what should of been just a dig out of the mud job. Turned out to be a heart wrenching scrap collection frown

Also concerned about the safety of that stretch of road. Had a friend coming out to see if they could help but didn't reach me till after I was taken away by the traffic police. They were outstanded at how lucky I was! Anyway, they did see a flood or some warning on the info banners before seeing Blipi up the bank. Wheather it was still there an hour or so later I don't know. However, some serious drainage consideration should be made. Hope no one else gets the same sad fate, or worse.

Just another addition to the strange events... Once I'd come to a stop and panick lead to tears, I was confused how a chap came up to my car, as there were none parked by side of road. He wasn't really that concerned about me. He was claiming that somethng had come off my car and smashed his windscreen!!!

Couple things here, firstly, while aquaplaning there would be no chance of parts coming off so can claim no liability whatsoever on his case. Second, WTF was he doing crossing 4 lanes and the central barrier during 8:30am rush hour on the A14 to get my insurance details to try and claim off me!!! Beggars belief.

Onwards and upwards now. Lots more tears and some heavy heartbrake to pass still.
10 years of daily pride and pleasurable ownership with many adventures and fun had. RIP Blipi, you had one hell of a life and no regrets! smile

I can't believe someone tried that on with you!

I had a couple of people stop; a Van Driver who went tearing up to your car in case there was anyone in it and a Lorry who blocked off the slow lane to slow everyone down so that we didn't end up with a third car up there (BTW there was wreckage of a Vauxhall littered around as well) They were both very sympathetic, the Lorry driver waited until the Highways agency arrived

It is only my 3rd accident in 24 years driving and my first for 13 years, so it is all a bit of shock really

Wow. Real great to hear concern and support from other road users!

Interesting that there was car wreckage already there too, be iteresting to know stats of that area and if it is a common issue. Lookout folks, careful on that stretch of road. A14 West between J2/1 I believe.

Thanks for all your kind words.

Fellow PHers understand that it's not always 'just a car'. It's your passion, love, joy and life to many. However, it is incredibly fortunate that we are ok to continue those pleasures, even if our babies have had their last run on the road.

Watch this space for the next chapter! smile
