Good price, quality butchers in Northampton?
Discussion
My friends and I are gearing up for a weekend at Britcar (I know it's a while away, but fail to plan, plan to fail) and one of the big things is the potential of a Man Vs Food style BBQ challenge while we're there...
So we're on the hunt for good prices on good quality meat, buger pates, steak, chicken etc
I don't want to go to the local SM and pay out a boatload for average meat and plus, they don't do it in the sizes we're after
Any recommendations ?

Costco would be my recommendation, if you can get membership. There's one in Milton Keynes which is probably your nearest one.
The meat in Costco is amazing. Steaks are huge, thick, slabs of meat and far better value for money than the tiny, thin slivers you pay a fortune for in the supermarkets.

That might be an idea...I need to look into how much and what hoops I need to jump through as I don't recall it being free to join. The meat in Costco is amazing. It's about £25-30 a year, but totally worth it IMO. Details on how to join on their website, but if your BiL is a member already, they could pay for an extra card for you on their membership for about £12 I think.Although the BiL is renewing his soon...

That's a damn good idea. I need to ring him tonight anyway, so that will dictate at least part of the conversation. Thankshttp://costco.co.uk/membership/
1. Costco
2. Farmhouse meats, Dallington (http://www.farmhousemeats.co.uk/) - friendly bunch of guys, they supply the trade but their warehouse has a shop that retails to the public on Friday and Saturday.
3. Hambleton Farms at the Beckworth Emporium near Sywell (http://www.beckworthemporium.com/food-hall/butcher) - fantastic selection of meats (and cheeses) - very helpful guy

The butcher(Chris) at Marley Farm, Byfield is fantastic. The beef is hung until maturity & the lamb has a great flavour.
Some of the pork is grown in the field behind my house & the pigs regularly get extra apples..... Like a sort of pre-marinade!!
He also has game when in season.
I'll second Chris, we get all our meat from him and as he's just up the road it's very handy. Some of the pork is grown in the field behind my house & the pigs regularly get extra apples..... Like a sort of pre-marinade!!

Roll on Venison season
