and fancies doing a fellow PHer a favour? I've located a pair of mats for my Clio Williams and they are in a breakers yard with this postcode. He won't post them and only wants collection. There is a link below.

Would anyone be willing to pick them up and post them to me? I'd cover all costs (mats are only a tenner) and buy you a couple of pints too. I live in Newcastle so I can't collect frown

Thanks,
Pack

are you possibly talking about the civic amenity (tip) infested with ner'do wells and gypoes

or somewhere else

have you checked the new postal rates since April, if the mats include heavy rubber and weigh a bit it could be expensive http://www.royalmail.com/delivery/personal-deliver...

Postage should be about £9. That has also been factored in. However as I am not familiar with the area, I am unable to comment on how bad it actually is or isn't.

Scrap yards don't tend to be in the most affluent of areas though.

the area isn't bad just the scum that sometimes are at such places, years ago it would have been some of the lower levels of my ,ow level neighbours

true, it's near the football ground

seend me exact details and I'll see what I can do - name of person ,description of tattos if you know, name of company (ha, ha) exact address - because I'm just thinking of the tip - do you want a receipt, company registration and VAT number smile

It's not by the tip. Well, it is geographically but that's not how you get to it. It's off the little roundabout by Northampton Audi / Wickes. Always wondered where that little lane went to. na if you need a rear gunner let me know. laugh

always best to have back up thumbup

is it Jansport? smile

never been down that track that I can remember but occasionally at Halfords or Tyres Northampton

thoughts went through my head about getting there and the price having increased or the mats being in a bit of a state

my dealings with car 'recycling' places are from the days when Airflow(?) used to sell s/h bits and places like the shop on Military Road - I think that might still be there, always thought it might be a cover for other activates smile

You're a star! Details are;
Roman Pawela
Northampton Motor Centre - Auto Parts
Tweed Road
Northampton
Northamptonshire
NN5 5AJ

The mats are from this car: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

I only want the rear mats and they must be Renault OEM rubber ones. Anything else, just walk away and I'll send you some beer tokens for your efforts. (He has said that they are OEM Renault ones)

Receipt, company, VAT receipt not necessary smile

They're black, and rubber. The Williams (like many Mk1 Clios) came with these on http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-Clio-Rubber-Mats... so the rears should be a similar pattern

I do need the rears! I don't have a photo of any sadly but they should be a similar pattern to the ones above.

Your help is much appreciated!!

ok, so X4 black rubber Renault Clio mats, two front, two rear

what condition are you willing to accept, amount of wear, any damage, fading, marks, scuffs, cuts, rips ect.

sorry to be awkward but I don't know what your expectations are, or have been led to, for s/h mats at £2.50 each purchase price - I'm guess not perfect, mint

  1. there may be trouble ahead#
Sorry to be cynical and I love the spirit of PH but unless you two chaps know each other already there is a large opportunity here for this to go very wrong.

Op - what happens if na gets the items in good faith and they are not what you wanted?

How much are the genuine item worth? or are they no longer available, is that why you are looking at scrap yards?

Not wishing to stir trouble it's just that I've been on the wrong end of "doing a nice chap I've never met before on the internet" a favour (quiet at the back!) and been left holding the baby, so to speak.

must admit the thoughts do go through my mind and thanks for the concern but after you've been ripped-off for thousands of pounds by people you know and thought they were at least freindly with you and thousands of pounds by 'specialist experts' and wasted hundreds on those that can't do a job to the standard they say

well then you don't worry about loosing £25

anyway we're not there yet

Well I like to think that there's a community spirit amongst the members of pistonheads. I'm willing to PayPal the money over to anyone who gets them, even before they have been there. If I receive them and I don't like them, then ho hum I'm only down about £25

And these mats are no longer available from Renault. If you look at my thread about my Clio in readers cars then you will hopefully see that I am trying to make the car as close to OEM as possible. I already have a set of front mats but I need the back ones to make a set.

Na, if you're not comfortable at any point just let me know.

I'm just needing the rears. £5 each he quoted me for them.

Condition: well as long as they aren't ripped I'm not bothered. They're quite tough (judging by the fronts I have already) so they're quite easy to clean. They must be OEM ones I hasten to add (seller says they are)
