Hi all, does anyone know Billing?? A group of us (25 odd people kids and adults) would like to camp for a weekend of beer, rounders, bbq's and guitars etc, you know the score.
Has anyone stayed here in a big group? are they accomodating to this. We don't party hard, but there will be campfire singing etc.....

I feel a bit uncharitable for this, as I've only spent about 2 hours on their land (and hence never stayed a night), but that was enough to give me a clue as to what the more negative contributors to trip advisor were on about:

Clientele seems to be its main problem ("Like a night on the Chatsworth Estate" laugh ), though I can still recall the strong whiff of deep fried food.

Stayed there for a week when I returned from Oz. Not a big group but the American car show was on and the visitors for this were not exactly quiet, plus the numerous other shows they have going on throughout the year.

How odd theres so many bad reveiws!

Myself and god knows how many others go there each year with the VBOA, and this year that event is 30 years old.

We have never had a major issue, even when the site is full to bursting and everyone wants a shower at the same time.

The only issue ive had there is the showers, which after a while are about as much use as a slow dripping tap. But ignoring that its great.

We have a good sized tent, get electric and have a good gas bbq for food, so not having to reply on the on site stuff is nice.

I've also stayed without all our gear in a small tent and with only a hadnfull of like minded car people and still had a good time.

Honestly its not a bad place at all and is now having cash spent as its owned by a bigger company. The new swimming pool complex looks grand!

I've only lived in Northampton a couple of years but the place does seem to have a bit of a reputation. Perhaps more for the mobile home part of the site than the campsite.

during an event with a bunch of likeminded people it doesn't seem too bad, any other time though yeah stay away. If you do go, camp as far away from the open sewage plant nearby as you can, and hope the winds in your favour!

I'd imagine it'll be pretty soggy too.

We got kind of put off Billing by all the reviews, we are now off to Folly Farm Fields near Bouton on the water.
Lovely place, thats expecting us as a group, and we'll spend the day in Bourton, by the river, noodling about all day.

Emberton Park is also worth trying. We've camped as a group and organised our own field so that any noise (not too rowdy) wasn't an issue for the mainstream campers.
