Just had a huge bird of prey having a nose around over my lake!!! Probably 25-50% bigger than a Buzzard, lighter colouring and a completely different wing shape. Not a Kite as no "V" tail.
Tried to get a pic but by the time I'd got up there it'd gone... Any ideas?

A summer visitor, becoming more common. Several pairs breed at Rutland water, with 150+ pairs in Scotland.

Spoke to a very good source last night and I'm told there's a nesting pair not a million miles from here wink
