My keenest memory must be holidaying in Amalfi/Atrani walking with my father and Uncle to get an ice-cream and then having a competition on the beach to see who could throw a pebble the furthest out to sea.
Oh and the trip to Vesuvius and the trek up the volcano from the coach....I thought it would never end!

Also seeing my first Ferrari in Italy at about 10 years old... I will never forget the sound that Ferrari Testarossa made going through the Tunnel!!

So guys/gals...what memories do you have when holidaying in Italy as a child?

My memories are as a father.
When my son and daughter were about 8 and 7, we went to Estensi.
I will never forget how kind Italians were to my children.
I would get my kids to pay for their sweets etc and say thanks in Italian.
A shop keeper would give them more sweets free than they were actually buying.

Great memories.

I remember staying in Sestri Levanti as a kid (Mimosa Hotel) and Dad buying me a toy Lancia Fulvia HF (arctic edition) which I loved for years.

I also remember The Family taking a drive to Lake Garda and just outside Milan seeing a trailer with 2 Alitalia Stratos at one of the toll booths. There is a picture somewhere in my Parents storage area. cloud9

Italy has never left me and I will never break the connection from it. (see profile)

Hoping to move there permanently late this year or early next year.

That sounds pretty close to my first memory of holidaying in Italy too!
