house in basilicata what can i NOT do?
Discussion
Looking into buying a smallish house and fixing it up to live (eventually)
And as the land is around 500sqm there's room for one or two caravans
and i wondered if i would be allowed to let them out to tourists
for a bit of income?
or will i get bent over by the comune.
Any other information is welcome especially if you live in the region

There are Geometras who specialise is finding loop holes in building laws etc. I'd suggest you see one of these guys first before you do anything. Italy's a bloody mine field when it comes to doing anything to your property. We can't build a garage on our land and are restricted to a 2m x 2m shed. Anything more and we get fined and have to dismantle it.
I had plans passed in 1993 for a 2 bed bungalow on a 15 acre plot, built a 3 storey 6 bed 4 bath house, using same ground plan, 4 box stable block and a swimming pool......
With the "Condono" I was fined 1,000,000 lire (about £3000) at the time, but that was in Parco Ticino.... in basilicata you'd have to pay, fines, protection money, the Albanians, the Sacra Corona Unita, the Camorra and the Ndrangatta... better known as the local council...... at least in Sicily they apologised for confiscating the Fezza!
