Help with the meaning of bomboniere
Discussion
Hullo, my fiance and I marry in two weeks and as my future family will now be half Italian I have tried to incorporate some Italian traditions. About 18 months ago I read about bomboniere and the meaning of the same. I am aware that the almonds are usually given in 5's but have also read that they can be given as 7. What I am hoping to find out is what the 7 mean. I have tried searching for the original website that I found this on with no avail and am now hoping that you will be able to help me. So far I have Health, Wealth, Happiness, Longevity and Fertility. Any ideas as to what the other 2 meanings would be.
Many thanks

Wife's sure it's 5. Also, there's a heirarchy to be aware of. It tends to be top table has pottery/fine china boxes containing the almonds, then the direct family members get something else less elegant but more substantial than the rest of the guests. In Italy, it is only the females that get them - not like in the UK where you buy "favours" for the men too. The general style is to have them in the form of flowers. There are also "Italian" wedding shops that can help with these.
Suggest you try Italy mag forum as there are a lot of Italians who will help with the traditions and their history.
