hi everybody,im looking for infomation to buy a used tvr 500 chimera and drive it to italy.do you know how i can insurance the car in england and drive it to italy is this possible?do you think i can i ll be able to have all necessry documents to register the car in italy from tvr?i heard here a document dvla with all car details.thanks everybody can help me:

Sei Italiano? Scusa la mia grammatica ma comunque:
Provi www.italsure.it per asicurazione. è una specialista per asicurazione UK-Italia che non è normale.
Perche TVR è morto, penso avrai problemi qui, ma non sono sicuro. Forse devi avere un ispezione come l'SVA.

have you already checked with the Italian vehicle licensing agency what documents they require?

vai in motorizzazione e senti un po' che documenti vogliono
i regolamenti in teoria dovrebbero avere valore nazionale, ma poi all'atto pratico per quel che riguarda chi può emettere un determinato documento, esattamente quali dati e direttive deve riportare come minimo, qual'è l'autorità compentente che deve autenticarlo, ecc... sarà l'ingegnere che vaglierà la tua pratica a decidere le regole

Visto che e proprio una Trevor che vuoi importare, controlla bene la disponibilità dei meccanici, ci sono già stati problemi qui dato la scarsità di meccanici abituati a lavorare su una TVR.

Poi guidarla da UK fino in Italia!!!! pensiero splendido ma, non sarebbe un'idea caricharla su un'trailer, per essere sicuro che arrivi?

ciao, sono Andrea da PC. Io, per un wrangler d'importazione americana,ho dovuto targarla tedesca e poi italiana, in quanto in uk la dvla non ti da i dati tecnici della macchina, e questi sono necessari in quanto il log book inglese non li riporta e non c'era l'importatore italiano che me li dava.
Piuttosto spera che ukgarage riesca a fornirti tutti i documenti necessari senza dover passare dalla germania.

I have my Porsche 930 insured with Hagerty's on a 3000 mile limited mileage policy (they do up to 5000 miles if required), I am covered for the car to insured in Italy or Europe for 365 days a year with full European and UK breakdown cover. It costs me half as much as I pay for my 2004 Ford Focus insured through Italsure which again is half as much as I would pay to have the Ford insured through an Italian insurance company.

I hvae kept it UK registered but the cost of taking it back for an MOT each year is still much less than getting it put onto Italian plates, tax and insurance. It also means I have a full UK specialist service history when I come to sell the car. Another advantage which I have not tried yet is I won't get any speed camera fines sent to me.

Io ho guidato per due volte la mia Griffith 500 da Sorrento fino al nord della Spagna (dove risiedo al momento...) 2.750kms ed e' una bella esperienza...il rombo, la notte, una tirata ''on the road ''massimo livello!

Per quanto riguarda lavorare su una Chimera che ha su per giu lo stesso motore e schema basico della Griffith e' facile facile....tranquillo.

Found them on EBay - left hand car dealer in France.

Let me know if you use them as I have a LHD Lotus Elan and a LHD Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto both on UK plates and I want to put them on the dreaded Italian ones. I have found a guy in Chieti who will do the job for about 900 euros. He imports cars from USA and does it regularly.

Insurance if you are over 50 try SAGA my Elan costs me £147 pa. 10,000 miles 365 days in Europe + wife
