There are some amazing cars in Sicily (generally kept hidden from the tax man and pulled out on Sunday's) they are really into their "off roading" down there I spent a weekend winching 4x4's out of the mud on Etna a couple of months ago best dirty fun I've had in ages....... am probably transferring down to Caltanisetta in September and the first two thing on the shopping list are an old 986 runaround and a Wrangler with 15" rims and 36" tyres for weekend fun!!!!!

We went up Etna in a G wagon a few years back in the Snow, and 2 years ago ,during one of my adventurous days,I followed a 4x4 club in my Mercedes ML 270 across the dorsale di Nebrodi which is 1/2 hour from us.It was summer so it was dry and was a 4 hour hoot.Great fun.
I was stopped on Etna about 8 years ago in a discovery as I had sneaked up past the Corpo forestale. One very irrate man in a 4x4 alfa came flying up after us.We pleaded ignorance.

Ill see if I can post some photos when I have time.

What you doing in Caltanisetta?

Please no "Horses head" jokes but as ladbrokes Italy have decided to make me a lady of leisure I have been looking at changing Industry and have been offered Commercial Directorship of a Building Materials company down there, as all my contacts are from Messina and Siracusa, Caltanisseta will be a totally new experience!!!!!!!

Good to see you're possibly not going to be a lady of leisure any more.

We spend a fair amount of time in Sicily as my wife is Sicilian and we visit the family alot.I found Caltanisetta area a bit remote and less green than the north coast.
We know a load of people, mostly over here, who come from Mussomeli, not far from Caltanisetta. We have stayed there and its even more remote and dry.
We definately prefer to see the sea.

Id be interested to know how you get on with the Dialect.

Well there's not a great deal of green in Palermo at the moment. They've not cleared the rubbish away here for a few weeks now and it stinks.

Mr Nikkie MkI was Palermitano so my Sicilian, 'though now slightly rusty, is still good enough to worry the old guys who think I can't understand what they're saying and then get a knowledgeable reply wink, I have never been attracted to the "entroterra"as all of my connections in Sicily are based between Palermo and Siracusa along that amazing stretch of coast. Had been offered a job in Milazzo earlier this year but turned it down after a GdF "visit" to certain collaboratori of the company offering the job hit the National press judge it's still all in the air, but as Crofty knows I'm always up for a beer and some tyre kicking.

I've opted against the job in Caltanisetta as it would drive me insane (more insane to those who know me), but will be down in Sicily after Ferragosto "ospite" della "Famiglia" from Messina at their Summer house. Would love to catch any PH'rs on the island for a glass of wine and fresh octopus,
