I am on a work course in Latina Italy, the weekend following the Le mans 08. Im looking at driving on from Le mans to Latina.

Where on route would you suggest I stop to take in the sites along my route. Want some classic pieces of Italy, driving roads for my Tuscan, and I have a week to travel down in, so speed is not of the essence.

Im not even sure how easy it is to enter Italy via Genvea??

Any advice or TVR Italy stuff would be a great help. Think this is going to be my road trip of a life time!

very easy

TBH coming from west France means you have a few options on how you enter Italy (coast, Mont Blanc, San Gottard or San Bernard) but that will depend on where you want to go before you hit south

I usually avoid the usual passes and blast through the San Gottard as there's more fun to be had south west of Milan - the roads are better and there's less traffic

what ever route you decide to do make sure you drive the A15 from Parma to La Spezia (in that direction), the first 40 kms or so you'll be saying 'so what?' (perfect for vmaxing) but after the Fornovo exit it becomes a bit more 'interesting' wink

also, if you are intending on blasting round the mountains on the weekends be aware of cyclists - there's thousands of them (usually 60 year old men with their lungs hanging out)

I literally have an open week to drive around and do what ever takes me. See the lakes, tunnels, whatever really. Im around Latina for 7 weeks so not worried about stopping in rome on the way down, mainly the things further north which I wont see on my way back up.

Im going to see whats going on at monza also, or the ukgarage.it people maybe stop in there?

Don't bother with Switzerland, drop down towards Lyon and do the Mont Cenis pass, then towards Turin, then the A6 down to the coast. Take the coast motorway (A10 I think) towards Genova, then the A12 to La Spezia (147 tunnels I think... think of the noise you can make!) Next take the A15 towards Parma (it's mental either direction you do it) After that... well.. I'll have a think and get back to you.
