I'm in the planning stages on my 3rd drive to Italy this year, again in the Tuscan (2007 - http://www.streaky-fish.com/holiday2007.htm ), and thought it might be fun to try and meet up with some PHers who are fortunate enough to live or work there, or even both.

Basically I would love to take some detours if it meant getting a chance to meet some new PHers...so if anyone thinks its a good idea....add to this thread what town and region you live in.

So far I've visited Bologna, Assisi, Cortona (nr. Lake Trasimeno), Florence, Siena, Rome, Tivoli, and my parent's place in Francavilla Al Mare.

This year, I plan to return to some of the above, plus discover some more wonderful places, mostly above 100db wink

Hopefully I'll meet some of you on the waysmile
Cheers,
LBsmile

Luca,

this is a real coincidence as we live in Cortona. We moved over to Italy roughly 6 years ago and now have a farmhouse for holiday rentals. In fact one of your photos of a particular road is VERY close to our road where our houses are ! I will send the image number in a message to you. I actually seem to remember a green TVR Tuscan on english plates last summer turning left at the football pitch in Camucia going towards the traffic lights in the centre of the town. It MUST have been you !

I even know this hotel that this photo was taken at...

Next time you are over you shall have to pop by ours..

Best,

Louis

That is an incredible coincidence ! It most certainly was me in the Tuscan last summer, and the summer before too lol. I loved Cortona so much, and the Villa Marsili hotel, that I had to return, and no doubt will return again this year. The chap by the car is Mirko, the cocktail manager at the hotel. When he saw me arriving last summer, he immediately demanded another ride, down the hairpins into Camucia. He could not stop grinning afterwards...nor could he speak properly for about a 1/2 hour.

It is the most wonderful town, with restaurant Dardano being my favourite eatery, with their home made pasta and ragu sauce....fabulous.

When I get there this year....no question about coming to see you...any excuse to meet some more PHers smile

Small world, and full of PHers - marvellous smile

I remember when I saw the TVR last summer - it certainly did get people's attention !

Will definitely be in touchsmile. Hopefully the attention was mostly positive...it is rather loud and can't help myself when there's an audience hehe

You must like the tunnels then ont he way to Magione Race Track on the other side of the lake !! I think there are around 3 or 4 ont he way to the track. People like the TVR here mainly because of the film "Swordfish" which starred John Travolta.. Many people have still not seen a TVR in Italy. I think the only seller in Italy is UK Garage in Milan.

I will be moving from California to Rome in May, permanently. Would be nice to meet up with some others! Still trying to decide if I will try to bring my Noble M12 and my 360, but either way it will be an experience!

Ah, I was just up there last weekend, but failed to check PH first! We stayed at some remote hotel in the south. Was very nice and tranquil.. little bit of rain tho.

Ciao

Recently got a place near Lucca, Tuscany and doing a lot of work this year during various visits.

Probably going over again in May, so hopefully might catch the GT's at Monza too (but will be travelling in a diesel Audi estate). It's also not many miles from Bologna and Modena, so I need to plan trips to Ducati factory & car plants/museums etc.

Hi Italian PHers!

I am based in Asolo (TV) in the Veneto region. Thought it was about time I introduced myself on this section of the site. Anyone else near this area?

Cheers

That is funny as we are based near Cortona and a good friend has a house here too and ALSO a white 205 CTI which he uses as his car for over here (it is white on english plates)....what a co-insidence !
