AIRE registration of minor

Has anyone here registered their UK born child with AIRE? Did you have to do it via FAST IT? Even if they're like 3 and 5 and don't have their own email addresses?!

I registered my daughters births in Feb with the consulate, got confirmation it had all been forwarded to the correct town hall, and from what I understood the consulate would have already registered them on AIRE from that. So I then made an appointment to get our ID cards. I've just been emailed cancellations for my daughters' appointment saying they're not registered AIRE
