Autostrada No Ticket Issued
Discussion
Men of Italian wisdom,
having just returned from a euro road trip could someone please advise on the following?
Travelling up the Autostrada from la Spezia to Monaco we hit a toll booth where we stopped to collect a ticket, pressing the buttons didnt issue us with a ticket and as the traffic was building behind and the barrier was up we continued on. At the next toll, to pay at, we tried explaining this to a rather irate booth op. She went off and came back with a ticket and request for 19 euros, fine with that. Though upon reaching our next destination i read fully the ticket issued and there is a further request to pay 70 odd euro within 15 days. My initial reaction to this was to ignore it, as i probably will. Has anyone had this situation and what are the implications of ignorance? Do the Italians have access to our DVLA data as this would be the only way i could be traced?
any info/advice would be greatly received,
cheers

I refused to pay once near Monza at 3am, as they closed the ramp in the direction I was heading and directed me onto a 40mile detour the wrong way down the motorway.
She still wanted to charge me for the pleasure when I got to the next junction.
I refused to pay, she threatened to call the police .I said go ahead call the police and turned the car off. She then came out of the booth and started writing my number plate details and huffing and puffing.
she gave me a copy of the ticket and I drove off. That was 6 years ago and never heard anything since. That's my experience. I wouldn't like to advise you what to do though. Thats your job

With rentals, you're screwed, but with your own motor, I think you don't have anything to worry about. Been travelling to Italy quite a few years in UK registered vehicles and never had anything through the post regarding any traffic misdemeanours.

I put my ticket into machine at silly o clock last November, last booth before Mont Blanc BTW and got
"Biglietto non valido" in return.
Press red button,me little Italiano, them no English.
don't now what was wrong with my ticket,it wasn't crumpled or damaged in any way.
Eventually paid them something and got on my way.
