I am going to rent a Ferrari in Milan later on in the year and do the ultimate driving tour of Italy - can't wait. We plan to go all over, but anyone done the Stelvio Pass? Is it really the best driving road ever or just a nightmare full of tourists driving slowly?
Quite frankly Stelvio Pass does not drive me mad: it'a a series of almost identical hairpins, few narrow tunnels and a decent restaurant on top, still I believe it's a good once in the life experience.
If you leave Bormio early morning, let's say 7/7,30 for sure you don't find any tourist, better if it's mid week time.
In any case if you give me a rough idea about your plans in Italy I can suggest some B roads for a good traffic and radar free drive.
Regards
