yep that was Albermarle...for those that don't know, it is to the west of Newcastle, north of the A69 (on the Military Road) still in MOD hands, very few events there these days..

I sold the Piper on some 25 years ago....no idea what happened to it. I was a member of the Piper Club at the time and did tell the purchaser about the club.

While I had mine I also knew of a late car being built in Yarm by someone - don't think it had been registered at the time....he fitted a BDA engine, so will have been quite quick!!. metalic green I think? not sure if he ever finished it. But looked great - perfectionist stuff, everything polished.

Hi, I used to own that car in 1986/87.
I picked it up free from someone in Stafford or Stoke on Trent!
Alas, I moved house and didn't have space for it so I sold it to art restorer Tim Cable in Suffolk.
A fellow old Piper Club member, John Malley, has kindly identified it for me as last being heard of going to Holland in 1995. He has much more info for me, but is away for a few days. I'll update when I know more. How I wish I'd MADE space for it!

Did the Shaw, think it was last year (or the year before) when it started from Morpeth.
I was in the passenger seat of the PV544 Volvo.
Is Darkie Lewis still in Whickham?
Looked at A piper back in the 70's in Killingworth, leaky roof, round healights in square orrifices, decided against it, maybe a wrong move....

Hi all

Been a little busy over the past few days.

magpies - I also know another owner of your very car. He is looking into trying to trace it. Would be good to try and find all those missing pieces. I have been trying to track down an early car that was last believed to have gone to auction in Scotland and not sold. It was also an early A-Series engined car.

Skyedriver - Was it silver by any chance?

It was a very long time ago, it may have been but orange/yellow seems to ring a bell. Might hae been a patchy mix waiting top coat
The lightw were round sticking above the body as the "hole" was square. The removable roof panel sat proud, the guy was older than me, seemed uninterested in the car or finishing
Was a house on the lakeside in Killingworth

Toby, I think that other person is me, Martin!
And the car is with Wim Van Steijn in Holland in his large collection of GRP British cars. He reckons to be fitting a Martin V8! A shame as I think these rare cars should be kept pretty original.
I'm awaiting a an email from him . He has also joined the facebook Piper group.

It was yellow when I purchased it.

While in my possession I took it to the Piper Club and they sorted the sagging rear chassis - a common fault I believe.
