Recommend a hotel with parking - for travel into Amstelveen?
Discussion
Please can any of our Dutch cousins recommend a decent hotel to the south of Amsterdam. I will soon need to travel for a meeting to Amstelveen and will have my family and car with me. Therefore I would like somewhere that has good parking facilities also.
It seems that most hotels only have on street parking - and that can be €24-36 for a 24 hour stay (really expensive). We are looking for somewhere where we can perhaps base ourselves for 2 nights, leaving the car there whilst we don't need it.
Recommendations of a nice place (say four star?) would be immensely appreciated. Failing this, if anyone can recommend somewhere further out of town that would be nice for a family stay, but within easy striking distance of the town.
With thanks,
Bryan

Hi Bryan,
Try and have a look at this 4-star hotel in Amstelveen. They get good recommendations and according to the website they have parking available.

Good luck,

No, I don't have personal experience with any hotel actually close to Amstelveen. Simple reason is that it is less than half an hour from where I live, so never needed a hotel there.
p.s. When will you be there and what car will you bring? Maybe a good excuse for a drive with my Chimaera.
Good luck,
Peter.

Hi Peter,
Sadly the TVRS have all gone now. Had a wondeful Chimaera and then the Tuscan (in my profile) which was a very well known car in the UK. That registration number now appears on my Lexus RX 350. Plenty quick with 270 bhp, but not a sports car in the handling department!!
I have a job interview with a company based in Amstelveen and will be bringing the car, wife and little one over on the ferry. Hence the need for a hotel where the car can be stored safely when not in use, but will allow us the opportunity to do a little touring.
The prices of hotels seem really high and parking in the centre of town a nightmare by all accounts. Someone recommended the Novotel off the A10 to us, but it says on their website that they are extending the hotel and building on that! Some else recommended the Holiday Inn, but that seems even more expensive.
I emailed the hotel you recommended last night, but they have not responded yet.
Are they are any hotels further outside of town that would be nice to stay at once business has been done in Amstelveen? We are thinking of doing a little tour one day clockwise from Amsterdam to Volendam/Edam and then around to Lelystad.
Thanks for your help!
Regards

Hi Bryan,
You could have a try here as well: http://www.expedia.nl/pub/agent.dll/qscr=dspv/nojs...
It is more like a bed & breakfast/guest house. Nice and small with a personal touch, right in Amstelveen and good parking.
I work in Amstelveen myself and live in Delft (which they call little Amsterdam, so nice to visit as well!). If you have an interview for a bank, than maybe it is where I work.
Good luck,
Peter.

I can recommend this place too
http://www.hoteldebeurs.nl
When I first moved here, I spent 6 months in the place. A load of my relatives stayed there last year when they were over for my 40th.
They have a small secure car park at the back of the hotel too or there are some good secure, reasonably priced car parks within 2 or 3 mins walk.
Amstelveen is an easy drive - 15 mins on the A4 and A9 from here.

Have a look on:

Tophotels in Holland are rather cheap at the moment due to price dumping.
There was an article yesterday about this subject in our main newspaper De Telegraaf on the frontpage.
Also,.............I know the people of the Beurs in Hoofddorp personally if you like to stay there.
