Dutch Supercar Challenge 2008
Discussion
Hi all
We are currently making plans for our motor racing in 2008 and are likely to race in some, if not all, of the Dutch Supercar races. We will be running in the GT Division with our TVR Sagaris V8, which for 2008 will be fitted with a 5.7 litre LS6 with around 480-500bhp.
We are looking for sponsors/partner organisations for next year and can offer a number of benefits for anyone wanting to work with us. This includes hospitality for guests at races and very good pan-European TV coverage. We are particularly interested in hooking up with Dutch companies.
If any of you have any contacts or would be interested in promoting your own companies, please would you drop me a line at info@teamholdenracing.com and we can provide some further details.
Many thanks
Andy

Guys - what is the profile of this series in Holland. Is it well known? Unheard of? Does it feature much on TV? Did the SLAM FM promotion help promote it?
Its very difficult to tell the profile of a series outside of the country, and I just wondered how many of you had heard of it?
Cheers

There's not much else to watch over here. It's pretty much the only spectacular alternative if you want to see racing in the Netherlands.
I've asked a few contemporary racing series enthusiasts and they go watch it.
Edit to say:
- Dutch TV SBS6 and MotorsTV broadcast the races.
- highest amateur-class over here
- with Silverstone, Dubai, Nurbrurgring, Spa, Hockenheim and Z'voort on the list it sure is interesting
- carbuffs just love it!
Keep us updated Andy

Well, it's certainly getting more and more known, but you can't really compare it to UK Championships. Basically, motorsport in the UK is BIG, in the Netherlands it's certainly getting more popular every year, but it's still not a type of sport that the mainstream media like Studio Sport will cover. Its very difficult to tell the profile of a series outside of the country, and I just wondered how many of you had heard of it?
DSC is very well known and regarded very highly amongst the true petrolheads, but those are the minority. The mainstream viewers will just watch Formula 1 and DSC isn't boadcasted in the same show as F1, whereas other types of motorsport such as the BMW 130i Cup, Renault Clio Cup, Formula Ford races etc. are.
I started following DSC in 2001 or 2002 when a friend of mine entered a BMW M3 in the Sport class. Back then it was really an amateur class with big belly racers who were 3 - 4 seconds off the pace (no offence to them btw).
It has definately come a long way since then and is probably the most professional touring car class in the Netherlands at the moment, but it still takes some time for the general public to get to see this.
Just my 2 cents; it would be great to see a TVR competing, although I'm not 100% sure if the use of a non-TVR engine would be allowed (I suppose you'd read the regulations three times over before entering a car though?).
Thanks very much for the response.
We have absolutely no problems entering the car with a Chevy engine - one of the great things about DSC is they really don't care what your car is or how it is powered, provided it meets the power to weight ratio rules for the Class. Even then they reserve the right to add ballast or pit stop time penalties to cars running away from the others - it is a good formula.
I would love to run the car in British GT, but the GT3 rules mean it is impossible for anything other than a manufacturer developed race car to enter now.
DSC will be spiced up a bit this year by the Mosler Challenge running as part of the series.

Chaps - those dates were 2 years ago in 2008!
In the end we took a year out in 2008 whilst we developed the car with a Chevy LS6 replacing the AJP8.
As we prepared for racing in 2009 we suffered an engine failure in testing prior to the Dutch Supercar race at Rockingham. This was rapidly followed by another similar failure a month later.
That really set us back and after the second rebuild (and winning a race at Thruxton in between) we headed off to Spa for the DSC race in October, only to suffer a third and final failure (different cause) which destroyed the engine.
We have just taken delivery of a brand new 6.2 litre LS3 which will be installed in the next few weeks and then we'll go testing before doing a couple of races later in the year
