TMC on Sat Nav

Got the built in SatNav and it has TMC. Came to some slow moving traffic on the M5/M6 yesterday and it showed nothing. I looked in the manual and it does not mention it. Looked at the message list and it told me about roadworks 8 miles away (useful!). Is that it, I thought it showed traffic jams on your route (I was navigating at the time).

Which system does it use for its data source - TrafficMaster or Itis?

My car has the Itis system and it often gives incorrect or no information.

No idea. It is a late 2004 if that helps.
