A lot fo it is down to price. BMW dealer is going to be the most expensive but should give you the best back up (there are going to be some problems with you being in where you are). The othere end is auction sould be good savings but much more risk. The questions is why not buy were you are. Much less of a problem bringing the car back if there is a problem?
i would buy where i am but iv been lookin now for a good few weeks, there are loads of mini ones around and there are a few coopers but all with low spec and quite standard.
i kno the cars in britan are higher spec, more choice and better lookin, compared to the irish market.
plus yer roads are better and yer cars are looked after better.
so i saw a cooper in evan halshaws in hull and thinkin of gettin this one.
i kno its a big risk and probably be goosed if i have a problem with the car, hence why im just lookin for a bit of advice before i go ahead with it!! has anyone had any problems they can tell me about?
thanks again ;-)
ps where are these auctions on?

As you dont sound like you want to take to much of a risk I would not do the auctions. There was an auction guide on this web site.
The easy way to go is get a warrenty that covers you in Ireland. You may even find that the place you get the car will do one that covers you or you can take one out privetly. Evens is a big groupe and been around a long time. This dose not garrenty that the car will be ok but at leat there is a good chance they will still be there.

Hi Cian,
Have you looked at the mini website www.mini.co.uk? I have just run a quick search on there and it came up with about 24 mini coopers for sale in the UK at the moment within your budget. Of course if you are looking for a particular spec that number considerably reduces, i.e. there is only 1 available with the chili pack.
Most dealerships are alright when you are buying the car it is the aftersales that are sometimes lacking in the customer service department. Check out www.totalmini.co.uk they have a section on dealership feedback and you can gleam a lot from the guys on there. There are even model specific sections for the mini cooper so you can check out any model specific issues.
I am sure the guys over there will be able to offer further advice.
Another place to check out is Autotrader. Although you won't necessarily get the back up of a warranty there, due to the age of car you are looking at it may be a better option in terms of budget.
