Hi,
A good family friend is a senior technian for a fairly well established BMW/MINI dealer, I was speaking to him once about this for my old car and his honest no biased view was that if you want to go for an extended warranty, theres only one way to go, the official Mini one. He said that he had seen claims take a lot longer on cars with other warranty companies and more claims end up being rejected with the other companies. The aftermarket companies are a lot moer difficult to settle claims with. Hope this helps

i was kind of hoping to find something that got me away from the ruddy main stealer netweork... i have only been 'disappointed' so far.
maybe my new local dealer will be better but i found my previous one in 'north hertfordshire' to be quite frustrating.

i might not bother at all.. i am not sure.

Most garages won't notice a remap. More importantly there are better mods for the money. The most you'd get from a remap on a standard car is circa 8hp.
The rule of thumb is your first claim each year will at least make up for what the warranty cost you.
Just depends if you think the peace of mind is worth it.

Not sure if this helps but I picked up an 02 Cooper S recently and it's got a load of problems with the Xenon lights. Basically taken nearly a grands worth of parts to fix (fortunately for me I'm not paying, the used car dealer I bought it from is). However when we asked if BMW would pay something towards the cost of the lights because Xenons are supposedly so reliable we were told that they wouldn't because goodwill works both ways, and the warranty on my car was never extended. We didn't goodwill them (or whoever owned the car at the time) by extending the warranty so they won't goodwill us.
Not sure if that would affect your decision.
