Going from 911 to Mini JCW
Discussion
Hello all,
I'm going from my 911
to a 54 plate JCW (Full blown and in great nick, credit to its owner - see piccie)
as a means of lessening the woe. In essence I'm changing as a result of forthcoming nuptials (she best say yes
). My mate has a JCW and I have thoroughly enjoyed the passenger journeys to date...looking forward to getting behind the wheel myself.
My question focuses on the warranty. I'm buying privately, but it has full MDSH and extended TLC covering the next 3 yrs / services. Can I get a Dealer Mini UK warranty, or will I have to go for a private warranty. If I go private, anyone got any recommendations - don't want to end up with a warranty that's not worth the paper its printed on.....
Also, the car currently has viper stripes, its a 5 yr old car and they've been on since new. If I remove them - will there be paint fade?
Cheers,
Oli

Without a doubt go for the BMW warranty mate. I've had one or two claims on my '06 Cooper S with an extended warranty and it really is like having a brand new car.
They book it in no questions asked and EVERYTHING is covered unlike some of the 3rd party guys. Definately worth paying the extra for peace of mind in my opinion.

hi there
i have recently gone down tha same route coming from a Porsche to a JCW 05
All i can say is you will love the car when you get used to the pointy front and sublime road hold.
Performance is really strong and the S/C whine is fnatastic.
Regarding the stripes - you will see a difference in paint clarity under certain lighting. dark silver is very very forgiving however you will have accquired a few swirls (hidden well by colour) on the uncovered paint.
I am a detailer by profession so i paint correted mine, but if you are wishing to remove them and improve the finish by yourself then i would recommend you clay the car and invest in a paint cleaner such as HD cleanse to improve the bonnet.
Must admit though, the stripes do a great job of protecting the front from chips - i decided to buy some more and reapply.
if you need a chat then pm me and i will give you my number

What 911 were you coming out of (just for interest). I'm looking forward to adjusting for the differing driving style - pre-pork I drove turbos and super charged as opposed to naturally aspirated, always liked them, but its reassuring to hear I will be enjoying my new found chariot...
I'll PM you on the stripes front, as I'm mixed minds at the mo.
Muchos Gracias

Ive got an 03 cooper s in the same colour as yours and removed the stripes about 6 months ago, had no fading at all, just gave it a polish after and looked fine. If you havent got the JCW brake upgrade on it and like to give it some beans on the roads every now and again just be weary of the brakes, they are s
t (not very good) fade after a few roundabouts.

Easily rectified tho with an upgrade

Presumably if you're buying from a Dealer you will be getting 12 months warranty anyhoo...
