I recently grabbed four new run flat tyres, in 205/45/R17/V. I previously had the Dunlop SP 9000 DSST, but decided to try out the Continental SportContact 3 SSR.

The Contis I've had in the past have always been excellent (they turned my KA into an all-weather / absolute confidence machine), while these are quite a new design, so I figured they would feature the latest tech. They also seemed to be getting good reviews on mini2 and are fitted to the R56 JCW as standard.

Now that they're worn in, the car just feels like a completely different animal - there were mountains of grip before, but now the car just feels much more composed. Wet weather grip has taken a huge leap forward, while in the dry it feels more grippy and predictable... As a further example, I can pull away much more quickly, without encountering any wheelspin. It's also taken the edge off of the bumps, so the ride quality is slightly better.

Really, really pleased with the choice.

Had them fitted by Leatherhead Motor Company, who undercut everyone else (£478) and did the job really nicely - really impressed and will use them again.
