Hey guys, just wondering if anyone on here has one of these, and what they can tell me about it.
I've read alot of reviews, and it looks almost perfect. I really like a relatives 07 Cooper S, but the GP looks great. Was wondering, is there anyway to get seats in the back, or to take more than 2 passengers? Haha (I know this is defeating the whole objective of taking them out). How does the GP compare to the new MCS? I found the supercharged MCS didn't have as much kick off the mark as the new Turbo charged versions, so just wanted to know what the GP compares to other cars in its class, reading reviews it appears very "nippy" to say the least. Many Thanks

Hi

I had one for a bit and thoroughly enjoyed it. There's 2 massive strut braces going across the back - so you're not going to get the rear seats back in!! And you shouldn't even be asking that question!!! wavey

Looks aside, it is quite an intense car - so if you're not into your driving, you probably won't like it and it'll begin to irritate you. It pops & whistles like the best of em.

If you want to compromise a bit, get the standard Works. I had one before the GP and it was a right hoot - and pace-wise there's not a huge amount in it.

Cheers
RS

Hey thanks for the info smile I understand what you mean about the rear seats...the strut braces are the whole point of it smile
That's what I was wondering, whether the GP had that much of a difference to the JCW. Thanks for your advice.

The "strut" isnt a strut according to MINI its a language bar to stop things coming from the back,Strut still seams better.

From being with MINI's for a few years, The works Gp is faster and more fun then a standard works, But people say the Standard R56 Cooper is with the turbo feels like the R53 Works, Also has the same brakes just not in red. The new works is the car to get if you want 4 seats packs the punch, Looks great, Bigger brakes and MINI have just made a few more things standard on it

I suppose its worth a note, the JCW GP is the same engine and as the JCW but with a bigger intercooler and re-map. You can achieve the power with a JCW and a few add ons...

It wont be as lite so will be slower, but you have back seats!

You have to see if you like the turbo or the supercharger to decide which car, personally I prefer the R53 as its a drivers car where as the R56 is a little refined and has lost a lot of characteristics in the drive feel, its still a good car but I would not buy one myself. As a long distance driver small car I would take the new one

I moved from a JCW MCS, to a GP and thought the same, but the GP is just oh so more!!!

My old JCW was great, but it always felt like a tuned car, it felt like an add on. Where as the GP is built to be that car, the traction works with the power to get it down, unlike the JCW that always felt like it was fighting but then cut out by traction.

I love my GP to bits, and intend to hold onto it for as long as possible.

But there are a few things to look out for if buying one:

battery - these are smaller than the standard MINI so die sooner
paint work - check front bumper and bonnet for flaking paint
tyres - wear fast obviously so check you aren't having to pay out straight away
exhaust - some of them have had the hangers snap on them early

Thats about it really, but such a great motor biggrin
