Retro-Fit Heated Mirrors?
Discussion
Hi.
I bought a new Mini Copper D in September. When I ordered it, all I wanted was the Pepper Pack and Heated Mirrors. The dealer upsold me the Visibility Pack but forgot to order the Heated Mirrors. Of course I only found out when the weather turned cold and the mirrors did not clear.
The dealer does not want to know as I signed the order.
Anyway, does anybody know what would be involved in retro-fitting heated mirrors? I know from another forum that on the Audi A2 you only have to change the mirror glasses to the heated type, everything else is there. Could it be that simple on the Mini?
I have tried asking a couple of dealers and they don't know.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
Tim.

All the wiring should already be there you just need the heated glass.
Be warned though it's about £70 a side for the heated glass from BMW!
You can get the heated backplates from Ebay for a fraction of the cost.
To check for the wiring you need to pop off the glass (just lever it out of the housing as it just pops into place). Then remove the mirror cap by gently releasing the retaining clips from the front.
The wiring should be sat taped to the back of the mirror.
