Just doing a bit of research into early Cooper S's.

Are there any issues with higher mileage cars, say 70k-90k miles?

From a quick read I need to be looking for cars with the Chilli pack, but does this include climate? Also, is the HK stereo worth looking for?

I'm sure I'll be back with more questions!

Hi Dave

Can't really offer any advice because our MCS only has 30,000 miles so far. However, it might be worth asking the same question on mini2.com. Bit of a larger audience on that forum...

Good luck...

Hello,

I think mileage is something that is at the forefront of peoples minds when it doesnt necessarily need to be worried about.

A car could have high mileage due to motorway miles or because the previous owner had a massive commute.

Buy on condition and service history.

Mini's are pretty robust and when looked after can go on for a while.

Look for the usual wear on seats, stone chips to the nose and I guess my main concern would be the suspension components and brakes (despite being consumbales).

Cheers Rags. I'd seen clutch issues mentioned. Do these tend to go at a certain mileage or is it down to how it's been used?

Any comment on the HK stereo being worth looking out for?

HK stereo is terrific.

And sts all over the 'mini hi-fi' that replaced it.

Don't think mileage is a prob at all, but check history on the front end - suspension gone wobbly? Maybe bushes and arms never replaced? Brakes and brake pads will no doubt have been picked up on previous MOTs.

Other random thoughts are to check clutch and gear changes and also for annoying squeaky sunroof wink
