Anyone had any tasty offer tales to tell? Apparently MINI are offering a deposit contribution towards their select deals at the moment - although the information given to me by two local dealers contradict each other.

They are offering it as a deal closer not as a special offer.

Strict instructions not to offer this willy nilly and there is no set amount, its the choice of the dealer.

Well as far as i'm concerned they will only be able to "close" me by offering this as part of the deal. I'm assuming you have some involvement either with MINI or a retailer - whats the best way for me to go about getting best thats out there? Whilst I fully understand the annoyance of some retailers to the discount question I'm not about to pay top whack for something and find that others have managed something much better.

I've got 5.5% discount, a full tank of petrol, and a mini umbrella off a new build mini cooper s. Due middle of november. A few places offered to match this, so I don't know how much more I could have gone. This was for a cash sale.

I still don't think they are giving me much off for a £20k motor.

The margin is not huge to say the least. So you got probably near to as good as you can get on a mini.

We won't go to 5%, we don't need to we. Tank of fuel is inc in every sale we make, and the umbrella is wk.

The umbrellas retail at £40.

Last time I bought a mini in 2003. They wouldn't give any discount and all i managed to get out of them was 2 umbrellas and 2 keyrings. And then i was told i was lucky to get that. ha ha.

Was at my local dealer today and according to them it was originally an offer available only to previous mini owners which has now been opened up to the rest of the public. Suffice to say, even including the 750 towards the deposit and the 250 off the car, the payments were actually higher than they were about 4 months ago (250 and now 270). It seems the residual value of the mini is no longer as "rock solid" as it used to be. Not impressed!

Well that's probably down to the credit crunch - everyone's too scared to buy anything.

We bought a Cooper S, similar spec to JamesAVS's in May for a smidge under 12K - now he's offering one for 10k!

Ours was from the main dealer and did with half-leather, no aero / spots. I'm glad I did go to the main dealer though, as the warranty has been much needed...
