Mini One Auto Stalling
Discussion
My friend's Mini One Auto (52 plate) is having an issue with stalling in the cold weather. The odd thing is that it only does it when going into 'Drive'. If selecting 'Reverse' then it's fine and once it's stalled, turning the engine off and on again and selecting 'drive' again will sort the problem, although driving away is VERY jerky until the engine is a bit warmer. Is this just a case of "they all do that" or does it need seeing to? And finally - can anyone recommend a good indie in the Bath area please? Thanks in advance

We have an on-going topic on mini2.com as my wife's Cooper (manual) has been stalling when cold, as have other peoples cars.
My dealer has failed to diagnose the problem but it seems to have sorted itself out while they had it. Another guy had problems with his dealer and had it looked at at an indie yesterday.
The suggetsed culprits are a dirty throttle body or idle control valve.
I will report back when he posts later today.

The problem seems to be not knowing what the problem actually is.
Look it up in: First Generation - Faults and Fixes - Engine stalling when cold.
Mine seems to have fixed itself after 3 weeks. The dealer was certainly no use.
I'm afraid I don't know enough about engines to comment on leaving the problem for a time.
