we've got an '05 (i.e. the later 170bhp engine). it either does short urban journeys, not london traffic but still south east.. or it does 0.95 lepton blasts up the motorway. with brisk a/b road driving for fun... and we get c31mpg. this is what most peole seem to get - gonzales' figures look a bit optimistic to me (
) it really does seem as though around 30 is what you should assume overall - on a run you can get it much higher but i would still work on 28-33mpg if you're doing some sums.
the thing is it's competitors are much the same.. you might get another couple ofmpg from a renaultsport clio... something like a leon cupra might be a bit better because the gearing's longer... the slower st170 is much the same...

That's me Baskey, ever the optimist.

If I ignore the computer readings of mpg and work it out from mileage and fuel receipts than I am still getting around 34mpg on regular fuel. Maybe life is better op norf afterall.

Got an mpg reading for a 52 plate MCS. I currently get 35mpg on regular unleaded and 38 on super unleaded. Get about 240-280 miles to a tank and most of it is city driving at 40mph.
HTH
lol..... seriously! Could never get past 30 even on a gentle run. Saying that i was addicted to the supercharger whine.. HTH

What do the new Cooper S get on a run?

I thought that was the joy of a S, that it was so good at launch 0 - 30 is fecking quick by anyones standards. If you take it tunneling with the right exhaust you soon become addicted.
Don't get me wrong, I am not one for hanging around at traffic lights but there are so many bloody roadworks and speed cameras around here it just makes life difficult. Off to Beds. at the weekend though.
my 05 MCSC is averaging around 23 according to the computer. I do mainly city roads with a short blat up the motorway and back every day. It was doing around 26 before I put the GTT air filter on. The whine of the charger is so addictive that I don't bother looking at the mpg I just fill it up everytime it gets down to a 1/4.
